Costa Rica, 8 Day Exploration Program
Costa Rica is a country of exuberant natural beauty, which will oﬀer students various options of ecological tourism, sharing with Costa Rican families, and also learn the best that Costa Rican culture oﬀers.
Day 1 – Arrive to San José
Meet California College Bound coordinators and
transportation to accommodation.
Day 2 – Irazú Volcano and trip to Pérez Zeledón
Morning: Visit Irazú Volcano National Park to Learn about
Afternoon: 3 hour Trip to Pérez Zeledón province of
Evening: Meet with host families.
Day 3 – Volunteer project at local schools
Morning: Cultural Exchange with ESL students
Afternoon-Evening: Visit the York University Campus” Las Nubes” to learn more about Ecology in Costa Rica. Student welcome and exploration of local Rain forest.
Day 4 – Trip to “Boruca” Indigenous Reserve
Morning: Student trip to the indigenous reserve. Explore indigenous cultures and paint a wooden mask. Students will join a “Boruca” native culture course.
Evening: Evening activity with host family
Day 5 – Volunteer project at “ Los Cusingos” Biological Reserve
Morning: Volunteer experience with Nature park ranger see wildlife in its natural habitat and learn about nature preservation.
Afternoon: Visit to the Alexander Skutch Museum.
Evening: Student and community activities with the community development associations and local government.
Day – 6 Manuel Antonio National Park
Morning: 3-hour trip to Costa Rica National Park.
Afternoon: Guided walk to explain the importance of the national parks in Costa Rica and explore birds of Costa Rica. Student Spanish lesson regarding nature and animals.
Evening: Share with host family.
Day 7 – Hot Spring Waters and Butterﬂy Garden
Morning: Trip to the natural Hot Spring Waters.
Afternoon: Lunch and trip to Casa Alegría Butterﬂy Garden.
Evening: Farewell Dinner and event with host families and local community leaders.
Day 8 – Return to San José to return home
Morning: 3 hour ride to San José and return to Airport.
