Saint Mary’s College of California Programs

Saint Mary’s is guided by three traditions:

  • Catholicism: encourages appreciation of all faiths, respect for the dignity of human life, and the building of the whole person: mind, body, soul, and spirit.
  • Lasallian Tradition: a commitment to social justice.  As a college founded on the Lasallian Tradition, community service plays a significant role on campus. Each year, students of Saint Mary’s College of California perform many hours of community service. The first Saturday of every month is christened ‘Saturday of Service,’ and on this day, students of Saint Mary’s College of California branch out across the Bay Area to serve their community.
  • Liberal Arts Traditions: a dedication to profound reflection and worldly experience, critical thinking, integrated scholarship, and lifelong learning.

Fun fact: nearly 10% of each graduating class, later joins a major service organization: Teach for America, the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, the Peace Corps or the Lasallian Volunteers.
